Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Best. Gorditas. Ever.

After driving by this place for many months, I decided to give it a try. Not a fan! The gordita was full of grease and the ground beef was over cooked. Also being the only one there it took quite a while to get my plates. Maybe another time, bu not in the near future.

STELLAR. SERIOUSLY...IT'S THAT GOOD. To get five stars from me a place usually has to be so good that my biggest issue with the place is that I can't decide which of the multiple great entree items I want to order....and this is the case at Saenz. The gorditas are the best I've ever had. Seriously....they're so flavorful and the shells so perfectly cooked that they make the gorditas elsewhere (like Robertos, for example) taste like flavorless mush. And the fact that you can get them for 99 cents between 2 and 4PM is UNREAL....in the best of ways! Beyond the gorditas are the amazing tacos, delicious burritos (I've had both the red and green and they're both stellar), and you can also get the green meat in the gorditas for a green chile gordita that is yummy too. And while most places just mail in barely-passable beans and rice, this is the only fast food drive-through joint I know of where you'll get better AUTHENTIC beans and rice than most sit-down places where you're served by a waiter or waitress. Bottom line....there's a reason this place has been around in the same location for 15 years or so. It's excellent. So excellent that it literally makes me mad that I'm in Albuquerque as I write this because after writing this review I'm now craving amazing gorditas and tacos that I know I simply cannot get in this area! It's simply the best crispy tacos and gorditas you can find anywhere.

Great value, tasty, delicious, special. Get out of a rut and try this place. Fast service, a real treat!

Simply stated this place has the BEST gorditas anywhere! Not very impressive looking from the street, but you can't beat the quality or quantity of the food or the prices either.

I LOVE this place!!! I have to stop every time I'm in town. The best gorditas and burritos I've ever had!
(5)Jim L.
Always top-notch! These are the most authentic Goritas you'll get in New Mexico! Ask for extra Hot Chile Sauce!

Great Gordita plate. We will be back!

Gorditas!!! Need I say anymore???

Gorditas are great at 99 cents. The only somewhat negative is the service. A little rude and dull, with a 'whatever' attitude, but the gorditas are worth it.

I never would have tried this place if not for yelp. The food is outstanding and a great bargain for your dollar. Every time we go back to Las Cruces we make sure to stop in.

Based on Yelp reviews and other internet searches, this place has the best gorditas. I have no idea if that is true. I think I have decided I am not a gordita fan and prefer tacos. The corn meal/bisquit is not for me. To order you either go to the drive through or order at the window with picnic table seating outside. Sort of like an ice cream shop for gorditas. I had the beef gorditas. They seemed fine, though maybe they are above average given the number of folks who passed through the drive through the 10 minutes I was there eating my 2:30pm lunch.

This is one of the best places to eat in Las Cruces! I read about it on Yelp and was thankful I looked. The building looks like an older Sonic style building, but you can drive thru or go to the walk up window. We ordered a gordita and taco meal with a side of chips-n-salsa. The gorditas were amazing! The beans were amazing! The rice was delicious! Tacos were great and they came with guacamole (some of the best I have ever had). In addition, they serve some of the best salsa I have had in New Mexico. Everything we ordered tasted fresh and homemade. Some of the best Mexican style food I have ever had!

I have a fairly high standard for mexican food and this place exceeded the standard. Had a delicious #13 plate with piles of chow that tasted homemade. a must stop

Best tacos around. The smothered burritos are excellent too. Fast and inexpensive. These truly are the best tacos I have ever had. Don't be afraid that it looks like a hole In the wall. Really great authentic Mexican food at a great price! Hometown owned and great!

The best place I have found in town for quick, delicious gorditas!! That is all.

Whooo-weee! For lunch, we ordered 2 items: gordita and burrito. When they handed the bag to us, we weren't prepared for the weight of the food to feel like 2-3 lbs. They definitely give you your fill of food...and tasty food at that! We spent under $4 and we had left over for dinner. Yes, they're open! It doesn't look like it from the street...we must have past it a dozen times before we finally decided to pull in.

they put a new name on mexican food, and they have the best gorditios in the world, it's an old drive up a & w and you can sit in your car and eat or use the drive up window to take your order home to eat, you will never think this place is a good eat but dont let your eyes fool you !!!

My boyfriend's family lives in Las Cruces. We live in LA. I think Saenz Gorditas is the real reason we come to visit so often. I can certainly say I've never had a better Gordita anywhere else. Their hours are a bit difficult to meet but its definitely a good treat when we do.

Been trying to eat here for a very long time, always seem to come when they're closed so when I dropped by to finally try, the hype led to an underwhelmed but still satisfied experience. The loaded burrito was disappointing, the horchata was okay, and the gorditas were great. Get the food that's in the name and you'll be happy!

The gordita plate comes with two gorditas (chef's choice), rice, and beans. The sides were very small but of decent quality. The gorditas were really, really, good. I was surprised to see them fried. They were stuffed kind of like pita and had generous amounts of meat, bean, and shredded cheese. The gorditas are smallish, but very dense and easy to pick up and eat by hand. I loved them. Loved them (wanted more!). The salsa to accompany them was very tasty. My wife got a folded taco and enchilada plate. She enjoyed my dish more than her own (LOL - how is that new?). I tried a bite of her enchilada in red sauce and did enjoy it. The guacamole side (for $0.50) is very good. The place is really a drive through, but it has shaded parking and a couple of benches to eat at. I found it to be convenient and fun. Down side - we paid $16.00 for lunch and it seemed a little steep given the portion sizes. Each fountain drink was $1.98 and were almost entirely ice. Once again, victims of over-priced drinks. All said and done I plan on coming back for gorditas and to try the burritos.

The best Gorditas anywhere !!. We drive from El Paso ( it's worth the drive). The staff are very friendly and treat you like family. I wish they had a restaurant in El Paso.
(5)Justin D.
So good! I'm afraid my diets out the window when I go to this place!! Gorditas are amazing but the burritos are equally impressive! Don't pass it up!

I come to town from California once or twice a year. This is one place I visit two or three times during my week's stay. The best place to eat, specially the gorditas. Excellent food. We do not leave without eating here.
